Computer-aided design

This week i am going to deal 2d and 3d designing softwares, i have tried some of the softwares to select that siuts me and my project

2D DESIGN

RASTER
GIMP: I was used up with photoshop, recently after pre-fab i just switched from windows to linux so for few months i am using GIMP which felt very good for me,even its simple interface makes it cozy to use.

I downloaded an image of an apple, my plan was to make a copy of an apple and flip it around and to reduce opacity so it will felt like reflection in dark back ground.

With bezier tool selected the part we needed to flip and rotated to an angle and inverted the same since its the mirror image.

Gave the image a dark background so that it will get an effect like reflection

KRITA: By the time tried "Krita" which also made sense to me , installed krita in my Ubuntu 15.10 by following three commands, copying this command to your terminal will initiate installation

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install krita *

HURRAAAYY..!! Flawless installation,, now Krita is up and running in system.

I am going to put a vehicle from a different image to a beatiful road

Downloaded image of a road

placed autorikshaw which is the most common vehicle in our place to the road also added the shadow in different layer for blending the same with the original image

finally it looked like this

VECTOR
Inkscape: During my pre-fab as said was my switching point,But really felt good about the decision Downloaded the image and open it in inkscape

Reduced the opacity and using bezier curves(shape:ellipse) mapped the outer sketches and using edit path by nodes gave a curvy finish to it.

Likewise completed the trace of all major parts of the sail

Removed the original background image

Adjusted the thickness making use of the option 'object to path'

Changed the color, and gave it a blueish shade. Changed the color, and gave it a blueish shade.

QCAD: I was saturated with Inkscape but just had a try and i felt awesome with QCAD i am just getting started with Qcad but managed to draw basic sketches to familiriase with the tools

3D DESIGN

Installing antimony is a TASK! had many issues with installing antimony software the main problem was was using ubuntu 12.04 and for the same purpose updated to 15.10 And then also there is a issue filed in antimony repo

Antimony was a experimental software by Matt Keeter, the main feature is that antimony is parametric.

what is parametric?

Parametric modeling means that the software maintains consistent relationships between components, so a change to one component is a change to all.

Antimony's perspective is like breaking down the design into a network of both primitive geometry and operations that interact with that geometry.

A try with Antimony

This is the 2D image representation of my project

Here goes the 3D-design made in Antimony

AUDIO AND VIDEO

Simple screen recorder: installed simple screen recorder for taking screen records, used H.24 Codec() and container as matroska(mkv) for documentation

    VLC:

VLC media player (commonly known as VLC) is a portable, free and open-source, cross-platform media player and streaming media server written by the VideoLAN project
VLC media player supports many audio and video compression methods and file formats, including DVD-Video, video CD and streaming protocols. It is able to stream media over computer networks and to transcode multimedia files.

RHINO

Started using rhino which is used for 3d modelling in a lot of serious scenarios like ship architecture and all, for now i am getting started with rhino by designing my proposed project model
