APPLICATIONS AND IMPLICATIONS

WEEK 17

 - Propose a final project that integrates the range of units covered, answering:

      *What will it do?

      *Who's done what beforehand?

*What materials and components will be required?

      *Where will they come from?

      *how much will it cost?

*what parts and systems will be made?

      *what processes will be used?

*what tasks need to be completed?

*what questions need to be answered?

      *what is the schedule?

      *how will it be evaluated?

 - Projects can be separate or joint, but need to show individual mastery of the range of skills covered where possible, you should make rather than buy the parts of your project

  • What will it do?

My project is a mirror designed to illuminate what it reflects, from the angle that the user wants. It will have sensors that detect the movement and activate the led lights that follow the users orders. This project can be used by different types of people. Older adults, actors, etc.

  • Who's done what beforehand?

Here are some examples of Fab Academy students from previous years:

    (click in each square)

  • What materials and components will be required?

S-Mirror is made almost entirely with 6mm acrylic pieces assembled with press-fit.

The accessory that carries the lights rotates by the gears that it has connected to a motor stepper. It uses six ultrasonic sensors that mark six different positions (or stops) for the lights. It has a pir sensor that activates the outer led tape and activates the accessory (carriage) that carries the moving lights. With this sensor, the entire movement of the project is started.

    The boards you use are:

    2 H-Bridge

    1 Fabduino (microcontroller)

2 customized boards (Power source + Distribuites power to all sensors)

  • Where will they come from?

The materials will get them from the store of Fab Lab Esan and in case I do not get something I can buy it in local stores.

  • How much will it cost?

At this point I have not yet calculated the total project budget because I am still testing. I do not think it will exceed the budget of $ 100.00
  • What parts and systems will be made?

Laser cutter: All the pieces that structure the object

3D Printer: gears, chain, board fastener, led light fastener.

    Models: All the boards

  • What processes will be used?

    1. Computer Aided Design: Rhino
    2. Computer Controlled Cutting: Epilog and Trotec Laser cutter
    3. Electronic Design and Production: Modela
    4. 3D printing: 3D BCN
    5. Programming: Using Arduino v.1.8.1
  • What tasks need to be completed?

I must complete the general design of the parts to be able to cut them in laser, assemble them and test the operation.

I am still doing design tests for gears and 3d printing tests. I must complete all of these pre-production tasks in order to be able to move to mechanical design and test.

I have not yet made my boards or programming.

  • What questions need to be answered?

How will I hold the mirror to prevent it from falling from the structure?

How to hide all the cabes and boards in an orderly way so that when the light holder is turned it does not become all over?

How will I distribute the power to all the boards?

What is the total energy required to know the characteristics of my power source?

  • What is the schedule?

    WEEK 17

    Design of the parts

Arming the object with press fit

    WEEK 18

    Mechanical Testing

Design of the pcb in Eagle

    PCB Making

    Programming

    WEEK 19

    Summary panel elaboration

Elaboration of the 1 minute video

  • How will it be evaluated?

    Do the lights work?

Does the movement of the direct light fixture work?

Do the six sensors work independently?

The support moves between sensors recognizing the previous stop?

    How is everything vertically supported?
