3D Scanning and printing
Assignment
- group project: test the design rules for your printer(s)
- design and 3D print an object (small, few cm) that could not be made subtractively
- 3D scan an object (and optionally print it) (extra credit: make your own scanner)
Final project Interface Case 3D Printing
I designed a case in order to protect all circuits boards and electronic components and hold the remote interface. It was modeled in Rhinoceros Software, and then exported as .stl file. in order to be imported to CURA software, in order to print it.

Scanning exercise
I started this assignment with the help of my friend Eduardo another student from the Fab Academy in Puebla. We did it at he´s Lab where he had a Kinect and Skanect software. The main problem while scanning was that the cable was in the middle since it was connected to the computer. So we decided to use a rotating chair while the kinect was static in order to scan me.

Design for 3D print
After scanning we started to use CINEMA 4D to transform the scan into a design sculpture. My friend Eduardo had an already made light scenario that I used to import the Scan. We where playing with different effects and textures ad materials.
3D Printing
A form Labs 2 with SLA material was used to print the piece. There were to versions of the design one with internal support and one without.
The first printing failed because the container was dirty. The second try took 3 hours and 20 minutes. The Software used to post process the design is called pre form.
