Project idea, purpose and implimentation plan

This is the first year of our lab and the lab is being run inside Godrej and Boyce Mfg. company which has a presence across 14 diverse businesses. And we have kept our lab machinery open to cater requirement arising from any of the 14 business.

Problem statement

As we started progressing with this idea requirement was felt that we have to monitor the usage of machines by each individual. Also wanted to restrict the access to machines which can be used only by trained personnel. Currently we were not having any mechanism of doing same other than manual supervision.

This requirement gave raise to my project concept and solution will be my project.


Project Intro

I wanted to design a mechanism to cater below 2 requirement :

  • Machine Usage Monitor This is required for machines which are less complex and no special training is required for using these machines
  • Machine Access Control This is required for machines which requires special training before using it and can harm an individual if proper procedure is not being followed

    • Now it is clear what is to be done. Next question was how it can be done as we are having 10000+ user(employees in this company)

    HOW..?

    In Godrej company for marking attendance Smart card based system is being used. So every employee carries a Smart card which is encoded with unique Sal code assign to that user.

    So I decided to use the existing cards to monitor and control the machines available in our lab.
