Computer Aided Design

The goal of this week was to try differents software for making design in 2D and 3D, and find the one that is suit for us.
'Here' was a list of different soft that we should try. I was already using Rhino 3D, and downloaded Grasshooper, 123D, SolidWorks and 3DSMax for the 3D software. I was using Illustrator and tried Inkscape for 2D design.

The result is that it's really hard to change the way I use to do computer design so I will keep using Rhino and Illustrator mostly. I may use 123D for some specific options. Despite his good reputation, I will abandon SolidWorks because it seems to be a big work to understand the logic of it. I will abondon 3DS max as well, but maybe learn it another time because it have the biggest community in 3D model so we can easily download entire scenes with fine textures that only works on it. But I trully hope to learn a lot about Grasshooper wich seems to be a great tool !
For the 2D design, I also use Rhino3D when I need to be exact, and Illustrator for putting colors and page layout. Here is a scheme of my (not so already) final project, made with Illustrator, that shows the idea of having few elementary parts to build much variate furniture.

And then it is some 3D views where you can see the 3D printed parts in blue and the laser cutted wood in brown. I also started to model something very geometric to train myself, here is the file : 3d.3dm
