Week14 Composites
Design and make a 3D mold (~ft2), and produce a fiber composite part in it.

This week assignment is very interesting and I want to use composite technology to make something. I try three times to produced composite. Failed for the first times and second times, but third times and succeeded
First times I designed small chair, so I have to design a 3D mold before mill the board on the CNC. I mixed the white latex and finer, and then add some wood to strength the structure. Failure! Because ignored the characteristic of white latex.
Second times I mixed epoxy and glass fiber to produced my composite. In this process, I made another mistake that ignored how to easy release. So it is failure too.
Third times , I asked for help and searched in the google, I made a decision to design a adapter for CNC and cleaner. At this times, In order to easy release and I used cardboard to design my 3D mold.
Figure the Epoxy system. The mixture's scale of Epoxy and Hardener is (0.5-1):1.
Put the mixture of Epoxy and hardener to stick on the mold's surface. And then put the small glass fiber to stick on the surface. In this process, I had to stick the mixture and glass fiber uniform distributed on the surface for kept the smooth surface.
1.Dsigned the mold with Rhino.
