About Me

Ioanna Mitropoulou

Hello there!

My name is Ioanna Mitropoulou and I am a graduation-year student in the School of Architecture of the National Technical University of Athens in Greece. My background in Architecture, my interest in computational design, and my adventurous nature are the reasons why I am here.

Going through the traditional architectural education has been a great start for me to have all the necessary understanding and knowledge of space, materials and aesthetics, so that I can now focus on parametric design, digital fabrication and the use of new technologies for the conception, design and creation of space.

Many of my projects already show my interest in the field, as I have been preoccupied with complex geometries, parametric folding and unfolding of surfaces, generative design with physical constraints, and interactive kinetic projects. I have also participated in workshops relative to scripting and conception of form using computational tools, and I have pursued my interest in that field through my personal readings.

I believe that during the fab academy I will be able to use the experience I have achieved so far, and combine it with all the new knowledge that will be offered through the lectures, the discussions, and the hands-on experience. In other words, a really exciting and fruitful journey is about to begin!
