Fab Dog House is a digital house, solar powered, for little dogs.
You can monitoring from your smartphone, tablet or computer, the internal temperature and humidity of doghouse and the water level of water dispenser. On the roof is present a system of rainwater collector, for the 2 Lt water dispense. In this way, your dog can stay outdoor totally in safely, also during the winter and summer.
Also there is present one crepuscular system what at nightfall one small LED light up the internal doghouse. This through a transparent panel, which is an innovative LSC solar panel, (Luminescent Solar Concentrators), the energy source that keeps charged a small LiPo battery for all electronic parts.
On the roof is present a system of rainwater collector, that avoids the waste of precious water.
In this way, the water dispenser can be fill up by itself, also when we are not present at home.
The water dispenser can contain about 2 Lt of water. On the water dispenser there is present a simple graphic for understand very quickly the water level. When the water will rise in excess and will reach the maximum level, will exit the evacuation hole, made at the height of the max mark.
LSC Solar Panel
The yellow transparent panel on the back of the doghouse, it isn’t a simple panel, abut it is a LSC solar Panel, (Luminescent Solar Concentrators).
These innovative solar panels are consist to flat layers of alternating luminescent and transparent materials, placed to gather incoming radiation on their (broader) faces and emit concentrated radiation around their (narrower) edges.
Commonly the device would direct the concentrated radiation onto solar cells to generate electric power. In this way, these panels can be mounted also in vertical and not necessarily to solar light directly.
In this project, the solar panel also works as a lamp, thanks to small Led 1.8 mm mounted near to the perimeter, at the bottom. It will light on automatically when will be dark, at sunset.
In this doghouse there is present a small temperature and humidity sensor.
Furthermore, there is present a sensor that continuously monitors the level of water in the dispenser.
It very simple and durable in time, because this is an ultrasonic sensor, so it isn’t in contact with the water.
This makes it impossible for the oxidation of electronic parts.
All of things you can have handy, with your smartphone or any device, monitoring in real time the Fab Dog House.
Any laser cutter having at least a work surface equal or greater than 85 x 55 cm. This to simplify the work, since the panels created by me are of this dimension. But you can use any laser cutter, if you will modify the layout of drawings.
Any PLA 3D printer having at least a work surface equal or greater than 17 x 17 cm.
Any spray paint having may be fine, but I really suggest the graffiti spray cans, because these sprays are extremely resistant outdoor.
In addition, they are cans with very high coverage, not be necessary to apply a second coat.
About the transparent, you can use whatever you like, just that it is suitable for outdoor use and for wood.
Any 6 mm plywood of thickness, it’s ok. It is preferred to use the wood for outdoor, but it could be expensive. It’s very important to use the safe plywood that is not toxic by using it with the laser cutter.
Any PLA that you have or that you want, compatible with the 3D printer available.
Any 6 mm transparent plexiglass of thickness, it’s ok. It is preferred to the frost plexiglass, for to see better the engraving, but not be necessary. It’s very important to use the safe plexiglass that is not toxic by using it with the laser cutter.
