Week Two: Computer-Aided Design
This week, I am going to use several softwares to sketch my project both in 2D and 3D. In my first 2D image, I create a combo through the software of inkscape. I play around with the colors to create a feeling that match the scenario that I want to project in my product. I use a black-and-white self portrait, together with a broken heart, to show the my sadness, and use a vivid self portrait to show my cheerfulness. Whenever I think to this part, I can hardly pull myself out of my sadness. My feeling can best be expressed in the peom written by George Jr. Here is the details regarding the design of my 2D design. I use the Trace Bitmap in Path to cut my original photo. Then I extract a black-and-white version. I drew some random decorations through "Draw calligraphic or brush strokes" and "Create 3D Boxes". However, it surprisingly delivers a nice geometric effect.

Step2: How to create a black-and-white version of my own photo

Step3: To establish a comparison between a normal photo and a black-and-white one
The general idea of developing a heart shape is simple. I just need to create two overlapping circles that can generate the upper half of a heart. Then I can either choose to overlap this shape with a triangle or create two lines and fill the inner part bounded by the outline. Then I extrude this 2D image into a 3D shape. I rotate the 3D heart, which is on the left-side, and I can obtain an apple-like object.

Anecdote
After reflecting about the development of a heart, I've come up with several philosophies regarding how heart changes in a relationship. At the beginning, heart is just like a heart, with nothing more or less. However, when heart becomes a full heart after revolving as shown in the third graph, I realize that heart becomes like a Hershey's?? Yeah, maybe love is just sweet like a chocolate. However, when love degenerates, there will be a hole in the heart. As this hole grows, heart finally breaks apart.
