This is Zhaowei's Fab Academy. In 20 weeks I will make a gravity drive car in the lab. This car was drived by gravity, and it can sense obstructions, especially it can go aroud the pipe.Using 3D model, 2D design, CNC mill, electronics, programming and so on.
I am Zhaowei Hu, from Shanghai China. I received master degree from Shanghai Maritime University, then I worked in this university until now after I graduated. I do some research about laser cladding and new coating material developing like ternary boride. I'm familiar with mechanical design, and I konw 2D design software AutoCAD, 3D design software Creo, but I don't know about electronic design. I hope to meet new friends in FabAcademy, and do some interesting design.
I know how FABLAB work in this class. Using bootstrap and git build my own website. Although I don't know html, css, javascript, after learning I found it is very intersting. So amazing.
2D 2.5D 3D design should use different software. Theses is very important in design and manufacturing. Raster design could only engraving. If you want to cut you should use vector design software. 3D design is much more powerful. We can use the most powerful 3D modeling software SolidWorks in the world.
Laser cutting and engraving are powerful manufacuting methods. Laser cutting cut material through, and engarving process the surface of material. Also metal and nonmetal can be cut and engraving. Vinyl cutting is used for making decal.
Electronics production is very fun. I was deeply attracted. I know the material of PCB, PCB fabrication. Many methods to farbricate PCB, such as milling, laser cut, vinylcut.But our laser cutter can't do this we use mill. And solder is also fascinating. You need should attentive.

Make echo hello-world board. Redraw the schematic and add a button and a LED. This job make I konw how the board worked and how to design the schematic pcb board. Actually, the electronic design is not hard as I think, if you know how it work and add the components design it in the software it will be ok.
In my opinon computer-controlled maching means CNC. Also is a kind of mill like roland SRM20, but much bigger much more complicated mill programming much dangerous. Three axis was controlled and kinds of mill were used. Shopbot can mill 2D 2.5D and 3D model. It can cut soft material like wood foam but can steel. And the 3D model actually not a real 3D for bottom for model then the mill can cut.
An embedded system is a system with a dedicated function within a hardware system and software, often with real-time computing constraints. Modern embedded systems are often based on microcontrollers, memory, peripheral devices, I/O port, the graphics controller. Use c language or arudino make the board work.
This week has a group work, we decide to make a robot that can write Chinese letter on the ground by water. I will find some informations about robot, and talk to classmate which structure we will use.
This week I want to do a music lamp. Buzzer can play music, and the led blink and breath. It dosen't have matter with my final project. I just do it for fun. And I want to konw if the problem PWM pin that make my led can't breath before.
This week we have to make the machine, coding is one of my work, I will make the robot move.
Almost all shape of model can be produced by casting. This week I design a shield by Creo and mill the shape of model by roland MDX40, then molding with oomoo 30, at last molding it by smooth case 300. A golden shield was produced.
According to my final project the input device will be a distance measure sensor, the sonar is used widely on measuring distance. I will make a pcb that can measure distance and send the signal out by blue tooth.
Fiber and compostie materials were used in this week. I design a sea shell model, and hope the fiber can get the shape of shell perfect.
This week I will make two boards and they can communicate by blue tooth. In my final project the signal of sonar servo etc... will send to my phone and some order from my phone will be excuted by the board on the car.
This week assessment is write an application that interfaces with an input and/or output device that you made, comparing as many tool options as possible.
It is very important to konw how your final project work, and what parts and sytems need, this week I have to think deeply about my final project and give a schedule.
Intellectual property refers to creations of the intellect for which a monopoly is assigned to designated owners by law. I searched some licenses, like GPL, LGPL, BSD, CC. These licenses can protect your rights.
In the last fews weeks I have to design my final project-a gravity drived car. I have finished the mechanical and elecronic design. Also the final elecronic board has been made. The control board need to be progamming and test. And the mechanical should be produced.
