Week 13 : Composites

Assignment

design and make a 3D mold (~ft2), and produce a fiber composite part in it.

What is composite?

A composite is formed by combining two or more material; it changes significantly the physical or chemical properties and forms an overall structure, which is better than the sum of the individual components, this type of process is called composites.

Plan

I have planned to make a vessle sought of thing to keep things in it. I will be using layers of jute and epoxy in it. I will also use glass fibre to increase the overall strength.

Design

I have used 123D design to make the composite file. I have the grip now on the software and it is also very easy to use it and get your work done efficiently with quality.

After drawing a simple box, I Extruded the box to obtain a 3-D form.

Now I went on to develop the file and make the molds perfect.

It just took me 5 minutes to obtain the desired result.

I made a few arrangements in the dimensions of the image and made it as per requirements of the assignment.
