— ABOUT ME —
COLOMBIAN ARCHITECT LIVING IN SANTIAGO
Hello everyone! My name is Nicolás Díaz Bejarano, I’m a Colombian architect living in Santiago Chile. Since I was very little I’ve grown up with gaming and technology all around me. These two topics are very keen to me. As for architecture, I have a deep fixation with exploring the concept about the “commonness of the every day” or “cotidianidad” in Spanish. How can we, as architects, designers or anyone in our cities, improve small actions such as taking the bus for example. An action that most of us invest a lot of time in our life (in general) but we neglect due to the triviality of the action. By improving such actions we can make our quality of life better.

As for why I’m taking the Fab Academy 2016, I believe that the mixture of design and technology can enhance my creativity. As architects we are asked to “design (almost) any place”; from houses, airports, to churches (and the list goes on!) so why not taking a course about “how to make (almost) everything”! For me, thinking more of the object rather than the place itself will be a great journey where I hope I will accomplish many cool gadgets! The FabLab Santiago is an independent center (not related to any university) that is working on many interesting projects and doing awesome workshops, feel free to check the website!
