Starting with the Building Blocks

Our assignment this week is to replicate one of the circuit boards provided by the Fabacademy. We had several chips to choose from, but once I saw that Zaerc's ISP design contained LEDs, I had to choose his. I like any project that consists of using an LED.

I was excited to mill my first PLC because I was never able to produce my own circuit from a copper board in my life. I was using the 1/64 drill size to etch my copper board and a 1/32 to cut the chip afterwards. Make sure to handle the bits with care because they the tips are fragile and can break easily. The milling process went by smoothly because after the mill finished the connections for the circuit were still intact without any of them ruin by the milling process.

I would have never imagined how much focus it requires to solder surface mount components compared to through-hole components because sometimes the components would not adjust to the way I visioned it.

I followed Zaerc's guide on how to program my circuit using arduino.
