ABOUT ME
My name is Birkir Þór and I'm 20 years old. I was born and raised in a small town in Iceland called Höfn and I’m the youngest of three siblings. I graduated college in 2016 and now I'm working at a langoustine restaurant called Humarhöfnin and on the side I teach in a music school while learning in the Fab academy. I am a musician and I play the guitar, bass and piano. The Fab lab in my hometown opened in September 2015 and is located inside the arts and crafts house called Vöruhúsið (The Warehouse).

Fab lab is a digital fabrication laboratorie that allows you to make almost anything. The idea is to inspire people and entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into products and prototypes by using tools and equipments in the labs. All the labs share core capabilities which are 3D printer, 3-axis CNC machine (Shopbot), laser cutter, vinyl cutter and circuit board milling machine.
Neil Gershenfeld is a professor of media arts and sciences and the founder and director of MIT’s Center for Bits and Atoms (CBA). He is also the founder of Fab lab and the director of the Fab Academy. The main idea is to make almost anything inexpensively and quickly anywhere in the world and to make it available for everyone.
