Week 19: Project Development

For this week's assignment, the last one, I got to answer some questions prior to the final delivery of my project. This questions are planned to give me some information about what needs to be done in order to end the project on time.

What is the deadline? How much time do I have left?

Exactly 11 days before my presentation with is due june 14.

What tasks have been completed? What tasks remained to be completed?

All the structure and all the mechanisms works. PArts of the electronics are already designed and manufactured, ready to be soldered and tested. The interface is not completed, it works in separate ways, with processing we manage to project the pictures with the desired delay in one program and in a separate program move the motor the desired distance with the proper delay. The documentation of the project is updated, every day I work in the project, by the afternoon

How will I complete the remaining tasks on time?

The time schedule it isn't tight. With the days I have left I design a work schedule consisting in 5 hours of daily work in the machine. With this I will be testing two days prior the deadline.

What has worked?

The design of the structure mainly done in MDF and laser cut.

The mechanical design with the worm gear.

The "arm" part which  the resin will adhere to, the mechanism in which is joined to the worm gear.

The projector.

The mirror.

The resin.

The electronics, it has ben tested apart and it worked just right.

The app.

What hasn't?

The adhering surface, we used MDF but it didn't work quite right.

The integration of the program.

The anti adherent to the petri dish.

What questions still need to be answered?

Are we going to be able to print without sticking to the petri dish?

The shape of the model makes it easier to stick to the dish?

What have you learned?

I've learned many things from this machine. First I learned that when you develop this kind of project you must solve the problems as fast as you can, that's why I changed some of the unions from 3D printed to laser cut, this saved us much time.

I also learned how delicate the photosensible resins are, and how sticky they can be. Without the appropiate treatment, the resin will adhere to every surface it can, this is very problematic.

I learned to use processing which is not complicated and is rather fun to use.

I had fun developing this project.
