Computer-Controlled Machining

 

Make something big

 

This is one of the most difficult assignments to perform, personally, because it requires to create a design to create something while the creative part is a bit complex; however, thanks to the help of the architect. Aislinn Aimeé González Escutia achieve satisfactory completion of this assignment.

 

Together with the architect to design a table that is easy to assemble and arm was performed, but at the same time use less space when storing. Table for this design was determined that a height of 90 cm was indicated for use that it would play.

 

The first was to perform the cutting, which worked on AutoCAD; this process was very complex for me, but for Aimeé Arquitecta was really easy and she was responsible for getting part of the cutting, while some adjustments and / or adaptations to file to send to the court I do.

FabLab in Mexico City it has 3 adjustments to place the table AXYZ 4008, these are:

 

1. Router

2. Sierra Tangencial

3. Sierra Oscillating

 

According to the material to be cut, it is the type of attachment to be used in this case as being cut cardboard tangential saw, with which it is cut accurately be used, as it occupies a thin knife and large cutting edge which allows various materials will be made as if laser, but with a larger format (2440 x 1220 mm).

 

This requires changing the attachment, disconnecting the cable and removing the screws holding it, after doing this remove the current attachment.

Once the current attachment retired, saw the tangential holding with screws and once it has subjected the cable is connected is placed.

Using the enroute software paths that follow the tangential saw, here the software compensates for the thickness of the cutter if necessary are generated, but this time because the knife is so thin it is not necessary to indicate that makes compensation, also you can change the starting point of the cut and set the sequence of trajectories.

To use the CNC must not forget to take the necessary safety measures, which are shown in and are using:

1. Coat or Coveralls

2. Safety Glasses

3. Earmuffs

4. surgical mask or mask

Once created G code are sent to the CNC Router and the cut is made, the necessary commands to configure the CNC AXYZ 4008 are:

 

• F24: Allocate height of sacrifice

• Put F20 material thickness

• Save the new source F10

• Moving the origin F13

• F9 Abort or delete file

 

Once set up sacrificial material thickness and origin, it is sent to cut the file and monitoring kicking all the time cutting.

Once you finished cutting skippable safety equipment and remove the piece smoothly, as shown in Figure 10.

Once the cut made folds were made and the supports were placed to make the table will remain standing.

After assembling the table as shown in Figure 11, you can save space by folding and reducing obtaining as final result the table as shown in Figure 12.
