We decided to build a CNC machine ,we've designed the entire machine so it could be made with a 40W laser cutter.
It also uses the electronics of Reprap 3D printers which are generally present in most of the Fablabs.
The design was entirely made in Thinkercad and Ilustrator:

The laser was recycled from an old DVD burner and encased with the lens:
We then mounted it on the carriage:
The steppers are common Nema 17 steppers, and G20 gears:
