Project Development:

Here we are at the last week of fabacademy 2017, all the work is almost done and we are getting closer to our final project presentation. This week is about tracking our progress with our final project, by answering some questions that will help as do that.

What tasks have been completed, and what tasks remain?
   What has worked? what hasn't?
What questions need to be resolved?
   What will happen when?
   What have you learned?

What tasks have been completed, and what tasks remain?

What has worked? what hasn't?

So far everything is working well,I mean the composite of the board is really good and strong and the axle that I made looks good also and the pulley that I designed for the wheels is perfect, so everything seems to be working good exept for the wheels because I have tried several things and I mentioned them in my final project page, and after that I was running out of time and I had to by an RC car wheels to test the skateboard.

What questions need to be resolved?

I have a few questions in my mind about the future of this project, like can these wheels really drive in the desert because they are not designed for that and am also concerned about the pulley, but the major question that I have in my mind is, *** can this skateboard really withstand my weight (85kg)?***, am not afraid from the composite board but am really worried about the axle because its made out of acrylic and we all know that acrylic can brake in an instant, but at the end I have really a good feeling about this project as I have worked really hard while doing it.

What will happen when?

As my final project presentation will be at 19/6/2017 I have made a small timeline of things to be done. - Mount the skateboard to the axle and the wheels - 10/6/2017 - Mount the motor to the board - 10/6/2017 - Design and make the Electronics boards for the skate and the controller - 15/6/2017 - Design the controller case - 16/6/2017 - Programme the boards - 17/6/2016 - Test the skate - 17/6/2016 - Make the slide and the video 17-18/6/2016

Am really worried about the time when we will go and test the skate in the desert, because right now we are in fasting during Ramadan, and we have to test the skateboard before the sun goes down and the weather will be a little bit hot there, but its ok all for the sake of knowledge.

What have you learned?

Well during this whole adventure through fabacademy and making this project I have learned a lot of new things, because at the end of the day I come from a Civil Engineering backgroung which has nothing to do with all of these things, but for me the weeks which I think that I have learned a lot from are the electronics weeks and also I liked the composite week so much. I learned how to design and mill a professional PCB instead of using jumper wires, I learned how to programme using c language and python. I also learned new types of 3D softwares, like how to design by a code with openscad or charts and mathmatical operations using antimony, I learned how can you use a few really weak materials in order to create something really strong during composite week. I have learned so many great things during my time with fabacademy, am really thankful for this adventure and for every one who had helped me during it, starting from my colleagues to the amazing guru Francisco, Thank you all very much :).
