Second Week Assignment:

Contents:

  1. CorelDRAW testing
  2. AutoCAD 2D testing
  3. Rhinoceros testing
  4. SOLIDWORKS testing
  5. Design parts of my final project in AutoCAD 3D
  6. Selft evaluation
  7. File download

Requirement:

  1. Explore 2D and 3D software and compare.
  2. Make a 2d or 3d design of your final project.

For this assignments I decide to probe some 2d and 3d software, like CorelDRAW, AutoCAD, Rhinoceros and SOLIDWORKS.

CorelDRAW testing

CorelDraw is a program for 2D design, very good to realize vectorial images, which do not lose resolution, but for some works that need accuracy is hard to handle

To start with corel we have to create a new document

In corel it is easy to make vector figures using the drawing tools

Finally I drow the Tecsup logo in Corel

AutoCAD 2D testing

Autocad is a program for 2D and 3D design, In my personal opinion is one of the best design programs in the market, since you can make designs with high precision and export them to other formats like png, pdf, dfx, etc. And can be used freely with student license

To start with Autocad 2D first we have to create a new drawing

We have to select the acadiado template, to work in mm

To create a line, just type the command line

To create a circle, just type the command circle

To move a object, just type the command move

Finally I drow the Tecsup logo

Rhinoceros testing

Rhinoceros is a program for modeling, 2D and 3D design, is a very powerful software, oriented to artistic designs and is not difficult to use.

SOLIDWORKS testing

SOLIDWORKS is a program for 2D and 3D design, this software is oriented to the design of machines and simulation of materials, it is intuitive and very simple to use.

Design parts of my final project in AutoCAD 3D

For this assignment i decided design the lower platform of my delta robot

I decided using AutoCAD, because I work a lot of time making plans to automate buildings and I am very familiar with this software.

To start to use Autocad 3D, the first step is select a template, in PerĂº we use millimeters, for that I select the template acadiso3D.

we have to do a 2D diagram

After, we choose the option 3D modeling to select the 3D tools

In Autocad is easy to do 3D shapes, using the Presspull tool

With the substract tool i can do same holes

Using the view manager i can create solids in different positions

Finally I finished the first piece of my delta robot, i choose autocad 3D bacause is more easy to combinate different pieces in a one sketch.

Selft evaluation

  1. What worked:
    • I testing all software programs with success

  2. What did not work:
    • I try to install Autocad Inventor but it is too heavy

  3. Things to improve:
    • Try free design programs
