About me

Hi, my name is Marco Wehrfritz. I am a Physicist and I just moved from Germany to the Bay Area in California. I am the responsible Lab Technician for Fab Lab at the Skyline College and I am teaching a Lab section of Rapid Prototyping and Physics.
This is the first Fab Lab in a Community College and we are just getting started! I have been tinkering and prototyping all my life. As a kid I made lots of model planes, during my vocational education I built laser and as a student I worked at a particle accelerator, where I built prototypes for detectors. After that, I worked as a research associate in a consulting company for nuclear safety. After quitting my desk job and moving to the U.S., I took the opportunity to be able to work in a Lab again. Teaching and Tinkering!
I don’t know yet exactly what I am going to build as my final project. Maybe a mill. My friend and colleague Nick Langhoff and I are racking our brains. We are curious what the outcome will be... For starters I am very excited about the possibilities the Fab Lab has to offer!

This page will hopefully be able to convey the progress of my project. It will be continuously improved and updated, as I proceed in my training.

When I am not working, I am enjoying nature, hiking and camping. I try to spend as much time as I can outdoors discovering all aspects of California. The picture was taken in Yosemite National Park on the Lembert Dome. I try keeping in shape by running and working out. I started surfing, which is great fun! I love listening to house music.
