Computer Aided Design

I still have a lot of learning to do before I am able to make the more complicated, parametric designs needed to complete my final project. I worked on a friend’s logo that she wants to turn into a mold for a candle or big piece of chocolate.

I first took the PNG of the design, and vectorized it using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. I did use the Illustrator Auto-Trace initially, which is why the first vector is kind of wavy. I would have hand drew it if I had more time.

After I vectored this, I used Tinkercad to extract the model. I examined the model, and realized that the fine detail was going to be near impossible to mold into a wax candle or chocolate at the size that she needed. I then removed most of the filigree and re-extruded the vector. This one measured out to be a lot better, at least .125 inch gaps between holes, which made me think wax would work better. I then added a base to the logo, so that we could build a mold box around it and pour the wax.
