Objectives

MECHANICAL DESIGN (week 1 of 2)
Make a machine, including the end effector, build the passive parts and operate it manually.
MACHINE DESIGN (week 2 of 2)
Automate your machine. Document the group project and your individual contribution.

Learning Outcomes

Work and communicate effectively in a team and independently
Design, plan and build a system
Analyse and solve technical problems

Here 4 AXIS CNC MILLING MACHINE

In the first instance the head was designed and armed as you can see in the image below. But, when tested with the spindle, we realized that it was very weak.

This was a reason to make another head. This was much more compact.

Juan Diego Cerron did a simple design and from that design a cut file was generated in FreeCad software.

Then, we did a wax test.

Doing wax test we realized that Y axis was very weak. So, I recommend add an stepper motor on this axis. Our Roberto instructor told us that there was a soft material for testing.

Then, 4 axis was added and tested.

Thanks to Jersey and Sergio, assistants of FabLab Tecsup.

Here, the whole team that made this project a reality that a start seemed impossible.

FINAL TEST!
