About Me

Hi, My name is Hong Guan, most people call me (HG). I was borned in Johore, southen most state of Malaysia some 45 years ago. Since years 2003 I have been working with Singapore Polytechnic as Technical Support Officer at School of Build Environment; in charged of Windows Server System Admin and workstations. Later on, I was transfered to SP Design School in year 2007. Several of my current core duties in the school include: administration of various school systems, operation, studios management, events and Design studios ugrading project, carpentry workshop improvement project coordination.

Nevertheless, before I move on to my current job scopes I used to be in charge of equipments like the laser cutter/ engraving machine, 3D printers, CNC 3D prototyping machine- Charyl2U, which enabled me to learnt and provide briefing to staffs/ students on the usage of those machines.

Ever since left my study in year 2002, where I studied Electronics Engineering in Multimedia University Malaysia; I have not been doing anything on electronics. I worry not only my knowledge had got obsoleted (back then still using Integrated Circuit to build counter circuit.), but also sort of rusty because of lack of practice.

I understand that this Fab Academy Diploma which aim to teach the participants on how to build almost "Anything" is rather tough and required a lot of commitment. Only a handful of particiapnts at Fablab@SP have graduated from this course and joined the big family of Fabacademy community which spread across the globe.

Through this wonderful and yet challenging course, I am hoping to acquire good projects management skills, good practices and knowledge to building almost anything and hopefully will be able to in return provide guidance to our students in the near future.
