Hello, everyone! Here you can see my mechanical/machine design project!

It's a drawing plotter!



You'll laugh, but it's my project planning. But as a result - you can see a cool project:)

This works on arduino with CNC-shield and GRBL firmware onboard.


Also my plotter has a standart nema-17 stepper motor with 16T GT-2 gear pignon which running with the A4988 stepper driver.


To control, generate the Gcode and send it, I use GRBLlaser. It's free to download, powerful and really simple for using.

You can see the result. And I really like it!

It took 10 hours!

Little bit about complicated stuff:

For such CNC one of the most important things is the belt tension system. This is the first difficulty. My plotter has a couple of plastines for creation a tension force

The second point is adjustment value of steps per 1mm. It's important to create a right dimensions of pictures. To reach it I did a calibration rectangular gcode and solve proportional equation.

And as s third - pen holder. At this moment a have very heavy system with linear bearings for 6mm shafts. It is too heave as I said. But system has a good transition from top to down positions.
