I had the idea to make cast spinner. I made half of the matrix of Teflon.
I have a proven polyurethane plastic Lasil, with whom I have deal before. (Some russian words on lables).
First, about milling.
Below you can see about mold creating:
This is a main sketch of 3d-model of spinner.
Here you can found a simple guide of subtractive bodies on SolidWorks. This is a very powerfull tool for mold-part creation.
Generated toolpath for MDX-20. Modela Player has not enough machining strategies, I think this simplicity is a big plus. You're not worried about anything! Just press the button and go away. Psst, it's not safety :)
And milling in action.
You can see a problem at this picture. Modela had been milling the mold for two hours when mill dropped down.
Reason is vibrations and not enogh clamping pressure on fixtures.
Fortunately it did not play a big role and I caught the moment for turn it off.
Next, about casting.
I filled in the matrix plastic and a little warmed dryer construction for quick completion of the polymerization process.
This polyurethane is two-components with easy 1:1 propotion.
