The Idea

Actually there is a lot of robot projects, since the venerable Asimo, through Robonaut, Atlas Robot and Darpa Robots, to the hobby and home market like Jibo, Buddy and Qbo, all they are great design by they own.

The final model could like this, the core of the projects is the eletronics and mechanical constructions with a very basic programming.

1.- Getting the parts

The main goal of my project is made an serious real research tool for Artifitial Intelligende, cheap enough for anyone to afford, could a researchers in a lab or a maker at home.

Because the major limitation of building a robot is no more the electronics or computers power, instead the access to good enough actuators, I decide build my robot from savage parts of old copying machine, DVDs and simmilar hardware.

2.- Making the 3D model

In the fabAcademy we learn how to make 3D models, but for my project I want something which look more organic, so I research a little how made a real sculpture by using 3D tools.. The results is here.

3.- Designing the Chassis

The original plan was design a chassis to be done with a 3D printer, but because of limitation of time, we will do a 3D laser cut chassis to be made with 2 plates of 3mm MDF or 6mm Acrylic. Later I will put the motors, sensors and electronics inside.

We will use 123D Make to create the dxf files for a laser cutter according to the previous STL file of the model
