About Rahul!

Hi, I’m a Mechanical Engineer from Gods own Country, Kerala who is passionately curious about technology. I’m the sort of person who gets bored easily, and is constantly on the search for something interesting to sink my teeth into. I love to solve problems and figure things out.

I'm a Mechanical Engineer because I love Machines. From the simplest Steam engines to the intricate Jet engines. The things that can be accomplished with a combination of mechanical elements working together, is astounding. Design is something I fall in love with, I appreciate great designs when I see it. From this, arises my desire to design and build machines of my own.

Inside me is a kid who takes what he has and tries to make something new with them. I'm never satisfied with the way things are, when I can make it better. Which explains my habit of tinkering with things.

Fabacademy is the perfect place for me, its like the kid inside me has woken up and now has all these cool toys to play with.

Aviation is my passion, I've loved Airplanes and Helicopters, ever since I was a kid, and have always wanted to build something that could fly.

I'm a photographer, who loves to tell stories through my images, I also love to write about my experiences.

I'm a Minimalist at heart, I love the simple things in life. Like a rainy day, a sunset, birds flying in the sky.

Come say hi, I love meeting new people.

Epilogue

Thinking back fabacademy has been an awesome experience, I got to learn a lot about many things, but more than that, the fundamental change that happened to me was my change in perspective. I shifted from a consumer mindset, where you buy the latest technology to a maker mindset, where I make my own technology.

I no longer look at things as they are, but what they can be. My mind is constantly thinking of ways I can improve the ordinary things I use everyday. This is my life lesson from fabacademy.

There have been many awesome moments during the course of my Fab Journey. But the one thing that always gets me is the feeling I get when I make something new. All the effort of designing, fabricating, and troubleshooting is worth it when you see the final result of your hard work. The moment of creation, when everything works and you sit back in your chair and enjoy what you made. A truly unrivaled feeling.

In most cases its not the result that matters, but the journey you took to get there. I have faced a lot of problems in many weeks, some simple and some not. I spend more time troubleshooting than fabricating. But through all, I have gotten a deeper understanding of the problem I'm working on. As they say, smooth seas never made a skillful sailor.

I owe a lot to my friends who helped me through the difficult times, it is because of them that I was able to work through all the difficulties. That is one thing I like about the Fab Network, we are a collection of like minded people, working together to bring a change to the world.

All good things must come to an end. Well, with a heart full of memories and a handful of friends, its time to say goodbye to Fabacademy.
