Applications and Implications
Introduction
The Assignment for this week is to Define the scope & Develop a project plan of my final project.
What will it do?
My final project Idea is to develop a left basket that helps people carry their bags to higher floors. Elderly people and physical weak whom live in 2nd and upward floors feel difficulties in carrying their bags.
Who has done what beforehand?
I have discussed my ideas with colleagues in the same type of business. My initial idea was to build A trolley that climb stairs, I came to know that due to the weight of the trolley, moving the trolley was not smooth. So i modified the idea to use box and gears made of Acrylic. The second idea was to use a gears fixed on the movable left basket and move up and down utilizing a fixed toothed sides on the geared box. again, the advise was to modify the idea since adding a stepper motor will make it slow in addition to the total added weight of using a stepper or DC motor.
Finally, I came up with the final idea. by using rope and basket, i can base all my components on a base on the ground and build up my idea. moreover, I will easily be able to find the components in the lab.
What materials and components will be required?
1) SMD Switches.
2) Stepper Motor & Motor driver.
3) Copper plate for milling PCB.
4) Acrylic to be used to made the base and basket (laser cut).
5) Bullies & Motor Holder. (3d printed)
6) Rope or thread.
7) Box (CNC).
where will they come from?
All the materials from the lab inventory.
how much will it cost?
1) Attiny44 micro-controller.
2) Box (CNC).
3) Motor driver.
4) Copper plate for milling PCB.
5) Circuit Board components " Switches, Resistors, Capacitor... etc"
6) Acrylic to be used to made the base and basket (laser cut).
7) Bullies & Motor Holder. (3d printed)
8) Rope or thread.
approximately $65.00 including materials.
what parts and systems will be made?
1) Making the Base and basket.
2) Making the electronics board.
3) Making a 3d printed Bullies and Motor Holder.
what processes will be used?
1)Computer-aided design for the PCB Design.
2)computer-controlled cutting: laser-cutting(to make basket using acrylic).
3)3D printing: for the making Bullies & Motor Holder.
4)Electronic Production: for making PCB.
5)Electronic design: desginig micro-controller board.
6)Embedded programming: programming micro-controller.
7)Input and output device.
8)Computer-Controlled Machining: Making the box.
what tasks need to be completed?
1) Designing Circuit Board.
2) Building Circuit Board.
3) Laser Cutting the Base and basket.
4) 3D printing the Bullies.
5) Assembling all components.
what questions need to be answered?
1) How to avoid swing movement of the basket?
2) Would i need more Bullies?
3) Shall i use stepper motor or DC motor.
what is the schedule?
1)3D design and printing • One day’s max ❬ 07/06/2017 ❭
2)Electronics board designing and manufacturing • Two days max ❬ 08/06/2017 - 09/06/2017 ❭
3)programming • One day max ❬ 10/06/2017 ❭
4)Error fixes and Improvements • Two day max ❬ 11/06/2017 - 12/06/2017 ❭
how will it be evaluated?
I believe i will be evaluated based on my demonstration to the knowledge gained during the reprieves weeks. the gained knowledge should be reflected on my final project. Moreover, I truly think that my idea will be beneficial to help people around the world. I hope I will be well evaluated.
