About

Me at FabLab SP with an artwork that represents the translation of musical score into shape - together with artist Dandara Dantas

I’m an industrial designer and a researcher in the fields of Art, Design and Digital Media. I hold a master and PhD degree in Visual Arts at the School of Communication and Arts (ECA-USP) having completed part of the latter at the Architecture, Planning & Landscape department of Newcastle University (Newcastle upon Tyne, UK). My thesis was defended in 2016 and is titled "The correlations between generative systems and digital fabrication in the context of the visual arts". I’m currently a vice-leader of the research group "GP_ADMD - Art, Design and Digital Media", that belongs to the Department of Fine Arts of ECA-USP and which I’m a member since 2008. I was a member of the research group "DIGI FAB - Digital fabrication technologies applied to the production of Contemporary Design and Architecture" (FAU-USP) from 2012 to 2016, during which time I was part of the FabLab SP, the first FabLab in Brazil. In 2013 I initiated my Fab Academy course with the support of FabLab SP. Currently, I’m coordinating the PortoFabLab (Espaço Cultural Porto Seguro) in which me and a team of architects and artists are developing practical activities investigating the relations between the practices of creation and the digital means of manufacture. This year I’m a continuing student at FabAcademy 2017 under the guidance of Kenzo Abiko at Insper FabLab. I intend to post all my improvements while doing the assignments in this website.
