Week 18: Invention, intellectual property, and income

A. Invention

The "Fab Lamp" is the combination of the capacitive sensor with the changes of the LED lights. All the design and files are open-sourced and are welcomed to use, modify and replicate. This allow any individuals to take reference for personal fabrication and to make customized lamp in any places where there are relevant machines avaliable.

B. Intellectual property

1. Copyright

Copyright is a law that gives you ownership over the things you create.

- The right to reproduce the work
- to prepare derivative works
- to distribute copies
- to perform the work
- and to display the work publicly

2. Creative Commons

This license lets others distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon your work, even commercially, as long as they credit you for the original creation.

After knowing the difference between the two license, I will go for the Creative Commons since this allows everyone to use, modify and replicate. I hope that individuals can take the reference to further improve the project.

C. Dissemination and Income

- Distribution through online platform related to design, homeware
- Physical space in homeware, furniture stores

For the income, it would be the selling of the lamp through online channels or partial income with the cooperation of the physical stores.
