Week 17: Application and Implication

What will it do?

The aim of my project is to create an LED Lamp which will change the color when you touch the base of the lamp.
- It will be powered by an IC power supply with 3V to 5V - When a person touch the base of the lamp, it will open and close or the color of the LED light will change.

Who has done what before?

Through my research, I found an instructable on how to change the color in the LED light, while there is another instrutable on how to make the similar 2D lamp. I will use these as the reference.

What materials and components will be required?

- RGB LED strip
- Acrylic glass sheet
- plywood birch
- IC power supply VDD=3V to 5V
- Attinny 45
- Copper Capacitor sensor

Where will they come from?

- the electronics are from Digikeys and the wood is from Servi Estació.

What parts and systems will be made?

The lamp is made by:
- Lasercut the Acrylic glass and the base of the lamp for the wood
- The controller (Electonic board with Attiny 45, Copper Capacitor and LED strips)
- The circuit holder will be using 3D printing

What processes will be used?

Eagle, Rhino, Lasercutting,Arduino, 3d printing

How much does it cost?

The board

LED Strips (from the lab)
Supply Voltage (3V Lithium Battery x 5) - 3 euros
Battery holder - 1 euro
Attiny 45 (from the lab)
Copper Capacitors (from the lab)

The outlook

Plywood birch (from the lab)
Acrylic glass (from the lab)

What tasks need to be completed?

I start with the output deivce which I needed to use RGB LED strips. I will try to make the LED strips blink by controlling through ardunio. Afterwards, connect the copper capacitor sensor with the board. Finally, when the person touch or wave near the senor, the light will turn on or change the color.

Design

The outlook of the tray will be lasercut out of Acrylic ,while wood is used for the base .

Through the project, i learn how to use the electronic and programming for the control of the LED and use different fabrication method to create the mechanic and the outlook of the lamp.
