About Fab Academy
The Fab Academy teaches principles and applications of digital fabrication. It was developed to teach hands-on skills in fab labs, which began as an outreach project from MIT's Center for Bits and Atoms, and has grown into a global network of more than 500 labs. Fab Academy instruction is based on MIT's popular rapid-prototyping course How To Make (almost) Anything, both taught by Prof. Neil Gershenfeld. It offers a distributed rather than distance educational model: students learn in local workgroups, with peers, mentors, and machines, which are then connected globally by content sharing and video for interactive classes. The individual labs are supported and supervised regionally by supernode sites with more advanced capabilities, expertise, and inventories. Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College (AKGEC), Ghaziabad is affiliated to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education. In the year 2013-14, the college broke all records by securing 26 positions with 4 Gold, 3 Silver & 2 Bronze medals in university branch wise merit list. Subsequently, in year 2014-15 also, the college has achieved unbeatable distinction of 21 positions in the merit list with 3 Gold, 1 Silver & 2 Bronze medals.

AKGEC SKILLS Foundation is an initiative of AKGEC supported by National Skill Development Corporation, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India, to promote industry oriented skills in young people to make them employable. Courses offered are in accordance with National Occupational Standard (NOS). ‘AKGEC Skills’ has the objective to offer Skill development trainings through industry-institution collaboration to empower youths under Certification by Nationally and Internationally recognized Industries/Societies/ Industry Associations/ Sector Skill Councils etc. To strengthen our commitment for improving quality of education, to keep the students and faculty as well as industry personnel, abreast with the latest technological developments in the field of Automation and Robotics, the AKGEC Skills Foundation conducts regular training programmes for the academia and the industry. At present eight Centers of Excellence are functioning under the aegis of CORE and performing various activities to enhance the industry-academia collaboration. New initiatives and activities at these centers is a continuous process.
