CHANGING PROJECT

I´m a fashion designer, so I wanted to explore the options of what a final Project can be from that perspective.
At first, I wanted to make a knitting machine which is documented on my web, but while on the academy I found how complex that was. I would love to work on that but with more time and a team of people.
So I took a lot of time thinking of what I could do instead, and with that the time passes, so at the end I decided to just try to have fun with it in a way that acomplish everything the final project should.
So I saw a youtube video call “Domino art” (link bellow) where domino pieces are put in an specific way so when one falls the other star falling in a controlated way.
I like the idea of trying that on a garment. It represent more challenges because of the human body shape, the pieces must be put at certain distance and angle so they mantein the direction first and then they could have the space to fall, meanwhile, keeping attached to the dress.

In conclussion, I would do a dress that works like with domino art.
I investigated about sensor to find one that reacts to the falling movement of the piece. So I found the Piezo Electric ones. I will put six in different parts of the piece to send signs at different moments so the arduino code can change the colors of the RGB Led Strip.

- What is the deadline? How much time do I have left?
At this point I have a week left, my presentation is june 21st.

- What tasks have been completed, and what tasks remain?

I have most of the electronics done, I took a lot of time. Now I have to think of a system that let the domino pieces fall from its Original possition but stay attached to the dress. Still haven´t find something that works in the correct angle.

- How will I complete the remaining tasks in time?

Moving to the lab? Well, that it´s practically done.

Now is about keep working. I have devided the final days in moments for every task And some left for “accidents”

Then, during the work the integration took much longer and still haven´t figure out how to control the domino pieces in a way that can rotate but stay in the initial possition when needed.

So this week is about making it work. Ill be trying with different materials and techniques to resolve the pieces situation and the integration.

-What has worked?

The shopbot structure worked to structure the skirt, and hold the led strip and the boards.

What hasn't?

The system to keep the “domino pieces” in place. I tried with pressure washers but it didn´t do it.

What questions still need to be resolved? How will the domino pieces will keep in the right place and angle
