For this week, the assignments to be accomplish are:
When it comes to movie props, the cultural power of these artifact that can create from millions in merchandising not including the culture that rises around. Nothing comes closer as the mystical and Iconic light Saber from star wars.
Was first introduce in the 1977 with the movie “Star Wars, New hope” and since then has been a dream for millions of fan around the world.
When I started the academy I ask myself, what if I would be able to make anything, what would it be? At first I didn’t realize the variety and power of the skill that I would accumulate during the Academy, but then all of a sudden in the molding and casting week strike me… “This could be a Kyro crystal for a light saber” and I felt in love with the idea.
I have watch few times people making incredible props and someone called “yoda” has made a business out of this by taking the vintage reflex camera flash (the original) and make them into a functional light saber, and guess what! He recently sold one on ebay for 15,000USD!! OMG!!
Despite the millions of people trying to make a light saber (even at this moment) to be able to make your own, it should be in every star wars’ fan bucket list and I’m definitely taking this opportunity to make my inside 10 years old self happy after these 20 weeks of intensive learning!!
It will inspire digital fabrication techniques to make your dreams come true! on Functionality wise, it will have a individually addressable leds with animation imitating the ON/OFF of the real light saber and it will have different colors option change by an input botton or touch pad.
To get closer to the real thing I/m planning to create the interior as close as possible from what is describe in the cannons!
here's the thing FabLitghSvaer1 and FabLitghSvaer2 were good try; However, I thing that none of the above has come out from the "ToyLook" concept that will meet a fan requirement, so my solution is to get closer to a feeling what is actually hold a real LightSaber!!
I will try to recycle a lot of materials from the lab, but, what I need basically the list below
FabLab Seoul has a privilege in terms of location! since is located in the electronic area where everything is found an small Fabcity!
I will try to recycle a lot of materials from the lab, but, what I need basically the list below
Aprox of 80 to 120USD
Since I'm trying to use and hold recycled Aluminum pipe for the case I will have to make all custome part to make it fit inside, also the electrical board that will control the LEDS and Cast a Crystal twice since I need to cut one in have!
What I was not able to do this week:
What I did but need to get better at:
