The process of turning light into matter is already possible through photography, whether taken by analog or digital processes. More or less we all know the operation of the cameras or the dark cameras and we know that the final material result has a "frame" and a two-dimensional support. This new device aims to "burn" light on any three-dimensional surface without frame or limited shape.
The pen works by altering its behavior depending on the luminance data it receives from the surrounding environment. It draws according to luminance values taken with a light sensor located in the top. It can be used manually or robotically, both for playful and artistic purposes.
Exploring the combination of the pen and the different machines that could interact with it, would be an access to the possibility of real-time render the environment in multiple new ways.
As an example, it could be used to create small sculptures that map the surrounding environment.
