Week 19
Evaluation of the Project so far
This week, I am reviewing my project and prioritising the tasks I need to get done.
How it was done
- Evaluating the project plan - The plan looks very doable. I have tested the system with off the shelf components. I will now focus on the rapid development of the PinToo boards (my mods of the Satsha Kit) and on the packaging.
- Time Management - as Neil said in week 1, getting work done each week for the final project has helped save some time. However, I am anticipating a lot of time to go in ironing out small issues in the PinToo board. I will develop in the Circular style of development, keep an Ideal Final Result, and move small steps towards it.
- Refocus on the essence of my project - I want to create a complete system to understand water in stock, track its usage in real time and control its use when water in storage reaches a particular reserve level. This in my belief, will extend the limited amount of water in stock for a longer time, till the Government again supplies water (Residential areas in Bengaluru gets water from the municipality once in 3 days if its a residential property.)
- Deadline for development is June 12, and troubleshoot and fixes is 16th June
- Tasks pending are the development of a new version of the Microcontroller board, and its packaging. Final video needs to be shot.
- Based on the timelines above, the chances of completing the tasks is high
- What has worked - learning and fabricating my own boards, power supply, designing my own box, and testing for a long time
- What hasn't - the work has been hectic each week, so I feel I know tranches of knowledge which I will have to refresh and stich together again later
- what have you learned? Simply put, to build almost anything from design of the board to packaging to licensing. Proficieny is lacking, but is a matter of time. I feel I am ready to build products and services now.
