DISCOVERING SOFTWARES

The week began with Neil´s overview of computer-aided designing tools and different types of 2D and 3D tools. Next, the tutorials.
The first tutorial was about Solidworks from Gregoire Durrens, he showed us the way to build elements and geometries, starting with parameters. To this FabAcademy, building parametrics elements is very important

Because I use Mac I can´t use Solidworks, so to replace it I am using Fusion 360 which is an other paramectrical software. I have to say that this program looks very good but I didn´t change Rhinoceros.

From Fusion 360 I learned the way to input the parameter, how to upload plugins, and create geometries, but not too much.

Other tutorials were about vectorial programs. I always use Illustrator, which is a 2D vectorial program and is very usual for graphics designers.
The most important thing here is understand the difference between Px and Vectores. "Pixel based graphics are made up from lots of tiny physical squares (or ‘pixels’) where as vector graphics are mapped out using mathematical equations which calculate where the edges of the shapes sit in relation to one another" From here

I imported this graphic into Rhino from illustrator and then play a little with these shapes.

3D

The other very important tutorial, for me it was the most important, was about: Rhinoceros+Grasshopper with Aldo Sollazzo, this is the master class.

He showed a way to create a completely parametric model. The first step was creating a polygon. In this case, a triangle, but like Grasshopper it is a parametric software. The control of the number of sides is a parametric slider. After, find the middle of the edges, these will be the joint lines. Align the rectangle in a tangent plane of each polygons. With a Boolean operation (subtraction) we could join all pieces.

The idea is make a laser cutter that you can carry everywhere and cut without space limits. But first I will propose and develop a robot and its displacement. This is the first sketch.
I started with my model thinking that it would be very important for my robot.

Illustrator

With Illustrator I was working since a long time ago, here you can see how I made de labels for the index.html I always use the keyboard to put the comands.

The square:

The traces of the edge and the inside space could be changed there. Then with "A" (selection) I changed the geometry and madde the label.

Then in the effects menu I select the parallel shadow. With Photoshop, I edited the pictures and then exported it in PNG format to put here.
