Electronics design



Assigment objetives:

This was my first time designing electronic circuits. I find this experience really amazing. What I learned is not only “How to design electronic circuits” because designing something demands you to know enough about what are you doing, in this case a hello-world board. What I wanted to understand at the beginning was the principles of electronics, proton, electron, atom, etc. Carlos Andres helped me to understand all this concepts and how they are relate between them. Then I proceeded to design the board.



Following the Fab Academy tutorial I found an opportunity to experiment with some software to process images in order to prepare the file to generate Gcode with Fab Modules.





After inserted the components and connected them I continued with the board. As first option I used auto-run selection but was not working correctly. At this point, I tried to make connections manually and I figure out that I was what I had to do but I had not enough expertise yet, to make my own components distribution. So I did it similar as the tutorial.







What I find really interesting about eagle is the option that connects the components with curved lines so I changed al the squared lines to rounded lines getting a great and different board. At this point I tasted to process the image at Gimp, Adobe Illustator, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Paint and inkscape. All this software worked to process PNG with 500 DPI resolutions except Microsoft Paint.





To solve those problems I decided to remove the extra cupper unsoldering the circuit components and used a knife to separate the circuit trails joined incorrectly (red lines).



I inserted some logos in the PNG file to experiment with the knowledge that I have as Graphic designer applying them to electric circuits design.





When I was trying to “calculate” the design in Fab Modules I got this error.





Once I consulted about the error and how to fix it I tried again running “calculate” and it just worked. That was quite strange because I did not change settings. I think that the browser got me that problem because it was processing a lot of info in another tasks and the second time that I have tried I was processing least information in other tasks (RAM problem).

Conclutions:



1.- I learned that I have to study more about electricity

2.-You can use a lot of different software in order to design electric circuits

3.-Design using logic and identity in order to communicate others using your product as a message.

4.-Electronic power is incredible

5.-We don’t use positive energy; actually, we use the absence of it.
