DOCUMENTATION

- TESTING THE COMPONENTS.

Just to test the correct operation of the components first I used an Arduino Mega and breadboard for testing.

Use 4 ultrasonic sensors and therefore build their plugs with cables to install inside the helmet.

The basic connection scheme is this, but in my case I had to replicate to 4 sensors.

I used this scheme to make connections where all the ultrasonic sensor ECHO go to the same pin of the Arduino and individual TRIGGER will Arduino pin. In my case I have built my own FABduino for this project.

Pins VCC and GND are the same for all 4 sensors.

Finally I could get all the airbags made with materials and tools available in the Fab Lab.

- AIRFLOW CONTROL.

To control the flow of air to inflate the airbags use a solenoid valve (12 V) that is connected to an external source, it has its own board which is connected to FABduino where the entire operation is controlled.

The valve has an inlet which is connected to a small air compressor, and the outlet is connected the Akangue Helmet.

- BOARDS DESIGN AND PRODUCTION.

In the assignment of Networking and Communications I build my own FABduino, the following LINK you can see and download the files.

To control the solenoid valve I have designed a board that feeds it and while receiving orders from FABduino to open and close the valve when necessary.

SELF EVALUATION
WHAT WORKED:

- All electronic components work well.

- The valve holds the compressed air pressure well.

WHAT DID NOT WORK:

- I could not integrate the two boards on one because I could not get some components to use a single source of energy. For this reason the two boards I use independently as energy sources.

THINGS TO IMPROVE:

- Design and produce a single board to reduce the number of elements in the project.

I'm currently taking this course in FAB LAB TECSUP, in Lima-Perú, through CIDI FADA UNA with the support of CONACYT and PARQUE TECNOLOGICO ITAIPU FOUNDATION
