Introduction

Those two Assignments are the group assignments of the Academy, it was required to design and automate a machine, we wanted to try a new mechanism at the beginning but we shifted the idea into making a "Hot Wire foam cutting machine" using MTM kit with Py Gestalt Nodes

My Contribution

We divided ourselves into 3 teams based on our fields that each one of us is much talented in : The CAD team, the Electronics and Programing team and finally the operation team, so I joined the operation team :D

• After we decided to use the metal guitar strings as a hot wire to cut the foam, I started to build a demo manual hot wire foam cutter, just to make sure of the guitar strings ability of foam cutting
• I tried a different strings thicknesses, and we found out that the thinner the better for the job

• We faced some problems in cutting the plywood using the laser cutter as we faced a heat wave here in Cairo that broke the chiller and the power supply so we had to stay near to the laser cutter in order to monitor if it is working or not
• It was a tiredsome duty but we divided the work between us, after that I helped in the assembly of the machine
