It wasn't my first time to use the ShopBot, as I made Fab Lab Egypt booth tables in the Cairo Maker Faire 2016 , so it was easy for me to do another thing using it :D
I wanted to try a new thing this time, so I decided to create a rotating joint so I can rotate the upper part of the table separately
I designed the table using Adobe Illustrator as usual
You have to take care of the inner angles when you design for the CNC, as you have to take care of the drilling head diameter, you won't be able to make an inner sharp edges
This shape called T bone or Dogbone :D
You can also just make a curvature like this one if you it is hard for you to make dogbone
I re-scaled the my design so I can test the new rotating joint by cutting using laser cutter, and it worked perfectly as you can see :D
I used the Vcarve Pro to make the design CAM, you can watch the tutorial below, it will help you a lot
I Choose 1/4 end-mill, edite cutting profiles, choose feed-rate to be 6 inch/sec, and 14000 rpm spindel speed
I used ShopBot to fabricate this file with 18 ml thickness MDF wood sheet
