Week 15
Networking and Communications
The fifteenth assignment is to design and build a wired &/or wireless network connecting at least two processors

A wired network will actually work with my final project, but I would like to experiment with blue tooth and Wifi as well. For now, I just want to get a working network and then look at modifying it to and making a combination network and modified sound board to control my driedle dropping machines.

I made a master board and three slaves, but decided to simplify and just do two slaves. It is probably good that I did as I made a rather major mistake. I got into production mode and made all four boards at the same time...the problem is that I soldered the AT Tiny 45 processors on backwords. You notice this when you plug them into power. They get very hot and white smoke comes out. I have learned from my robotics team that robots run on white smoke. When the white smoke comes out...they stop running. So I learned how to remove processors from boards and resolder them. In the process, I ruined three boards and salvaged one. So, back to milling, picking parts, and soldering.

Programing process.

Flashing processor.

Programming completed succesfully and the boards tested fine. They work!
Following is a rough prototype of my driedel dropping mechanism.

The idea is to have the two wooden pieces slide under spring tension and have the driedels drop while spinning when they hit the small cut outs.

The green thing is a car door lock actuator that runs on 12 Volts. I am trying to Jerryrig a Mosfet to power the 12Volt actuator. If it works, I will design a new board with the larger capacity Mosfet.

This is the bench power supply that I am trying to power the actuator with. I have limited the amperage so as to prevent white smoke in the early stages.
