Week 19: Invention, Intellectual Property and Business Models

Create and document a license for your final project. Develop a plan for dissemination of your final project. Prepare a summary slide (presentation.png, 1280x1024) and video clip (presentation.mp4, 1080p HTML5, < ~minute, < ~10 MB) in your root directory.

Learning outcomes:

*Recognise the range of licenses available.

*Formulate future opportunities

Have you:

*Summarised two kinds of licences and explained why you chose one.

*Imagined and outlined possibilities and described how to make them probabilities.

Smartbeddo:

My project is a prototype modular inflatable system called Smartbeddo that allows to achieve patient comfort and facilitates nurses’ work from a mobile phone. If there are people interested in my project I want to share everything I could develop during the Fab Academy for the idea continues to be developed collaboratively and someday to become a final product. That is why I chose to use Creative Common License because it has a more open format, is a global license.

Intellectual Property

Creative Common License

Attribution-ShareAlike [CC BY-SA]

Advantages

CC = Creative Common

BY = requires attribution

SA = require share-alike

The Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike license allows re-distribution and re-use of a licensed work on the conditions that the creator is appropriately credited and that any derivative work is made available under “the same, similar or a compatible license”.

You are free to:

Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format

Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially.

ShareAlike doesn’t place any restrictions on the type of use–its only difference from the BY license is that it requires works that build upon it to be released freely. (Usually, under the same license, but there may be other compatible licenses in the future.)

This is different from the NC and ND licenses, which restrict some types of uses entirely, regardless of whether those users would contribute their work back to the commons.

Disadvantages

Attribution — You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.

ShareAlike — If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions under the same license as the original.

This license lets others remix, modify and develop about work even for commercial purposes, provided that you attribute the credit and license their new works under identical terms. This license is tiny compared to the licenses "copyleft" and "open source" software. Any new work based on yours, it will be under the same license, so any derivatives will also allow commercial use. I decided not to restrict the commercial use of this project because the idea need to be more development, so to continue investing money, do the necessary research and testing the next prototype.

MIT license:

A short and simple permissive license with conditions only requiring preservation of copyright and license notices. Licensed works, modifications, and larger works may be distributed under different terms and without source code.

Advantages

Commercial use

Disadvantages

Conditions: License and copyright notice

Thanks to my evaluator Epifanio Cueva, I reviewed another licenses on this link

To do - Future of my project

I have plans in the medium and long term for my project, this has only been the beginning, in which I have managed to make a prototype that demonstrates the essence of what I want to achieve, but now I will continue researching on the following points:

* Fluid handling

* Weight ratio with pressure (kg / PSI)

* Pressure points

* Hospital ergonomics

* Alternative materials (PVC)

To be able to improve the methodology of integration and to have a more industrial finish.

In the meantime, as you look and with the improvements you will have over the next few days, I will involve you in competing funds to get funding and fulfill the above. I also plan for Smartbeddo to participate in local, national and international competitions, with the aim of sharing knowledge and improving even more.

My intention is that this project evolves collaboratively by interested people around the world.

Because I studied at the School of Industrial Engineering at Continental University in Huancayo, I would also like to share the experience of this project with students of my School, giving them access to all my files through my personal website of the Fab Academy 2017 where students I would like to develop this project if they wanted to take it as an educational project within any course of the school.

I am grateful to Master Beno because he is giving me some other guides for my project, now I will continue to research and share with you what I have learned. You can contact me to social networks. I will gladly listen or read.

And I also share designs with you, as you would see the modular system integrated according to the need, in this case use the reference to use it for the size of a mattress and a pillow, what I want to teach you is that you can asaptar to Needs of each.
