Assignment
Model (raster, vector, 2D, 3D, render, animate, simulate, ...) a possible final project, and post it on your class page
As an Industrial Design Professional I had the opportunity to work with some 2D and 3D programs, but I have to say that I haven’t touch some in a few years. Although ADOBE Photoshop and Illustrator (image at the left) are the only tools that throughout the years I haven’t been available to leave. So for the 2D practice I will start modeling my project REC kids, since it’s an object for kids is very important the graphic designs of it. Took me some time but I have finally come up with a first draft (image at the right).
I have to say that my last 3D tool was SolidWorks, I even have it installed on my computer by never liked the super parametric that it has to be for a simple design. I didn’t wanted to try it again. In class there was a good recommendation for using FUSION 360, so I gave it a try (image at the left), it took me a while but finally got it (image at the right).
As you can see the modeling was super easy (image at the left) parametric but not too parametric, in other words I could create a shape in a parametric way (basically that has parameters, measurements) but I didn't need to make a lot of measurements of the dimensions to have a full shape. For me that is the basic difference between Solidworks (you need a lot of measurements to end up with a model that has no mistakes) and Fusion360 (you can make a model with some measurements and still have a model with no mistakes, or with the mistakes you what them to have) Then I started playing with some colors and textures (image at the right).
Then ended up in the rendering area, where I played with lights and different aspects (image at the left) that gave live to my idea. Finally I started to create the rest of the game (image at the right). Keep up for more updates on the evolution of my project.
Since I started creating a design for my project and squares is what I ended up with, the parametric design of my model is just based in the measurements of length 8x8cm. For creating a parametric design you need to replicate measurements and scale them to create a define shape or structure, if needed in my project development it would be used.
