In this week I will have to Evaluate my project plan, Apply time management techniques, & Summarise and communicate the essence of my project ..
Our Final Presentation has been scadualled to be on the 16th of June,, I have about 4 days to complete my project, and make the Final presentation's slide and video!
I have ..
1. Design & cut the outer enclosure for my project using Laser cut- pressfit Acrylic.
2. Lasercut the styrofoam pathwholes for the foam to rise in.
3. Design, Mill PCB and Solder the component to it.
4. 3D printed the feail features for my Whale.
5. Maually Tested the working mechanism of the concept of the toy.
All what I am missing now is the Programming part and Tail button mechainsim, and then my project will be done,, after that I will spend the remaining time prefecting my design by having better enclosure for the electronics, redesign the Knife, 3d print other parts that would make my design more organized ..
- The whole mechanism is working fine ( generating floating foam by pushing Helium in a Bubble Solution).
- The electronics part also works well by using 2 lab benches (one for 5v >> servo, the other 12v for Solinoide)
- I was hoping to get shapes out of my device as the Flogo machine did, but unfourtunatly I could not do that in the time-limation,, but I think the main problem is with the bubbles solution I am using,, as research grows, I have discoverd that there is liquid called "Concentrated FOAM liquid" that I think will work perfectly in producing shaped foam,, but I could not find one here,, I will have to order it and experiment in the future ..
- I have started to work with stepper motor, but it did not give the desired moviment, so I am experimenting with Servo, and it seem to be fine.
- I did not like the idea of using 2 lab bench power supply, as they will not be in a REAL Product,, so in the following days I will be experimenting with other options like using a coumputer power supply which feeb both devices with sufficient current, and I will be searching for a better stepper motor driver that can produce enough current to power the devices, and keep my electronics part compact.
1. How to produce SHAPES from the foam that can Float?
2. What is the best power supply option I can go for.
3. How to make it shelf-ready product?
A LOOOOT !
Goning through this course was fun, and I have learned a lot of things, a while I am making my final project I have even Learned more! as I was having a specific idea in mind and I want to excuted it to match my idea as much as possible,, and that was NOT easy at all!!
for example,, when I was working of the Press-fit enclusore, I have draw the whole design, and tested in on computer and it worked, but after cutting I have discovered that I have on one side used male slots rather that the female, and that led to redoing the WHOLE design!
Printing the 3d pasrt was easier, but again the same problem,, missing one value, would result in bad peice!!
So if I want to summerize what I have learned in One word,, it would be DON't RUSH! desiging products need time, and TIME MANAGMENT,, Stages should be stated clearly and accoplished on time!.
One more thing .. NEVER UPDATE YOUR OS while you are in this course! you will have to repeat the whole SSH thing again!! Learned the hard way :""""(
