This week we were told to Design and make a 3D mould (~ft2 /30x30cm), and produce a fibre composite part in it.
I wanted to make a lamp so i started designing the shape of it on fusion360. i made a sketch then evolved it to creat that shape.
To fabricate it i used a plugin in fusion360 it is called slicer. i added the values of the laser cut sheet and thickness then selected how i want it to be sliced then i exported the dxf file.
After finishing the design i laser cutted the parts then joined them togheter with pressfit.
then i started to wrap it with plastic wrapping paper then added a mix of epoxy and hardner (2:1) and gauze layers then wrapped it again. i inserted the composite in a vaccum bag and vaccumed it and i left it to harden.
The next day after it was hard enough i started removing the wrapping and the cardboard and cleaning it.
finally i drilled a hole for the lamp to fit in.
