Digital Design and Modelling

Since we are comfortable using Rhino for our other projects, we used this software for 3d modelling.Abdullah modelled the design using Rhino and Grasshopper to understand the working of our model. He used Grasshopper and an online gear genertor for our model

There is a central base which holds our model together and also acts as the pivot point for the model

The gears in the center are the 3 main gears, which propels the other gears on which the drawing arms sit on. The central gear would be attached to a motor for the next stage of the assignment.

The other gears which house the the arms which draw the geometry are going to be fit on the rails linked with the central gears for rotatational motion.

The next step was to fabricate a smaller scale prototype.So, we arranged the drawings, and used "make2d" command to generate the drawings for the machine
