Week 03

This week's homework is not about my final project.

I tried to use laser cutter and vinyl cutter. My homework is a cube box sticked with Chinese word FU on the top.

Part 1, design the cube box. Sketchup is my favorite 3D design software now.

Firstly, I disigned the cross section which size is 350*350mm. The thin column is bulit up with one piece of 5mm board and the thick one stands for two pieces. There are 3 different boards. The red ones are 8 Parallel boards. The green ones are 4 Vertical boards. The Inside connections are complicated shown later.

Secondly, I designed the Parallel boards.

Fourthly, I designed the Inside connections #1 to #4. Actually, #1 and #4 are same to each other. #2 and #3 are3cutting differnt.

Fifthly, I designed the Top surface to fix all the boards together.

Part 2, design the Chinese word FU. I tried to use Inkscape for the first time.

Firstly, it's impossible to input Chinese using Inkscape. Photoshop can do this.

Secondly, import the picture "fu.png" to Inkscape with "Smooth(optimize Quality)" option.

Thirdly, enlarge the word FU.
