For this assignment week we had to design and 3D print an object that could not be made subtractively so I tried printing some parts of my architecture final project, I did a double-slope roof with a gradient of 30 degrees, we can see the lower part it is not perfect because the machine works better with angles bigger than 45 degrees, also I had problems with some parts that I thought the machine would recognize as bridges but there were too thin to consider them as bridges so the machine didn’t slow down the speed there and the PLA is a little bit lower that it should be.
The only way that I could do this models is with the 3d printer machine because I have bridges and other machines don`t let you have this kind of holes, I think this piece it could be work better if I would printed it in the other direction but I wanted to test how the angles worked as bridges.
The machine that I used was the Makerbot Replicator 2 and I used PLA 1,75mm diameter.
Also I tested how to change the color of the filament on defined height, so I decided to stop the first color at one millimeter, and change it again at the second millimeter, doing it I found some interesting transparencies. Changing the color I did two pieces one of them it had outside woodwork and the other it had inside woodwork, we can see that the outside woodwork it is not perfect because of the first layers were not enough to support the next.
