I am employed by the City of Ekurhuleni as a Project Manager. I have a civil engineering background with a strong Project management competence. I was exposed to the fablab family in 2006. From 2006 I had been trying to convince my principles that Fablabs have a huge impact on the previously disadvantaged communities. it was only in 2011 that i managed to convince them of the impact that Fablabs have on communities , the rest is history
Since 2011 the city has now setup 3 Fablabs and is presently setting up the 4th fablab. The current operational fablabs are Fablab Tembisa, Fablab Thokoza, Fablab Tsakane and we would be having Fablab Vosloorus opening its doors to the community on the 01 June 2016. I have been given the resposibilty of managing all these Fablabs with the assistance of interns. The City has committed to setting up a total of 19 Fablabs, one in each township.
